The re-elected Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Sani Musa has said that though he is interested in becoming the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but saying he will abide by his Party’s (APC) zoning arrangement for the leadership of the incoming 10th Assembly.
Senator Musa made this known in Abuja on Tuesday while fielding questions from journalists at the National Assembly complex.
When asked if he is interesting in the position of the Senate President, he said, ” I’ve not made my formal declaration yet because I’m a party loyalist, and i believe in the supremacy of the party, the NWC under the able chairmanship of His Excellency Distinguish Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Our party chairman, Senator Adamu has advised all those with intention and ambition to wait till when the party zoned various offices, but be it as it may, it does not foreclose us from making our intent known and I actually intend to go for the office of the Senate President if it is zoned to North Central, and if it is not zoned to the north Central and it happens that the office of the Deputy senate president is zoned to the north Central then that’s the office I’ll go for,” he said.
Senator Musa, noted that Nigeria is a circular country there’s freedom of association just as there is freedom to one’s fate therefore, as it has happened that the president elect is a Muslim, and his vice elect also a Muslim, chief judge a Muslim it won’t be good if also a Muslim becomes Senate President and the speaker of House of Representatives, saying that if that is done where’s circularity, and where is the equity in leadership?
Meanwhile, he thanks the journalists for their role in deepening democracy in Nigeria and pledged to do more for his Senatorial District and Nigeria at large when they resume in the 10th Senate.
