The criminal hoarding and racketeering of fuel by some players in the petroleum downstream sector has made life unbearable for most Nigerians .The timely and patriotic intervention by the leadership of the Department of State Services (DSS) is laudable and life- saving. In a press statement made available to journalists in Abuja by a foremost civil society organization and signed by the national coordinator, Comrade James Okoronkwo, the group stated that the DSS directive is in consonance with her mandate and national security which is the protection of the nation, her citizens, economy nstitutions against sabotage/exploitation by nefarious elements.Continuing, the group noted that the DSS is mandated with responsibility of internal security and negative activities of hoarders of fuel have made life unbearable for the people by making the product unavailable and costly with attendant long ques which have resulted to traffic jams in most cities across the country.Furthermore, the group lamented that the negative and unpatriotic activities of oil marketers runs counter to the Reviewed Draft of National Defence Policy(2002) which States  that “National Security is an encompassing condition in which citizens can live in freedom, peace and safety, have access to resources and necessities of life and thrive in an environment which is conducive to their health and well- being. In addition, the Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice hailed the Yusuf Magaji Bichi led DSS for getting the commitment of Fuel marketers to make the product available 24/7  this festive season and thereby endearing the DSS to all  and sundry.
