Team Nasarawa to the just concluded National Sports Festival in Delta state finished in 28th position, 11th position above Zamfara state who are in the bottom of the festival chat
This is despite huge motivation from the state governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, who had wanted the athletes to excell at the 21st edition of the festival held in Delta state.Nasarawa State won a total of 20 medals; seven silver and thirteen bronze medal without a single gold to their credit.
More worrisome was the inability of Team Nasarawa to defend their Gold medal titles in the 130kg Heavyweight Men’s Wrestling category and 42 Kilometres Marathon race after both competitors, Talaram Mamman and Philibus Sharubutu were struck with ailment and armstring injury separately.
However, Kano has remain a shinning state among the 19 northern states including the FCT, as they finished 7rh and FCT in 9th position.Kano won 19 gold, 27 silver and 30 bronze bringing the total number of their medals to 76, while FCT a cosmopolitan city came second from the northern region with 15 gold, 11 silver and 33 bronze bringing the total number of medals to 59.
Meanwhile, Zamfara state were meare participants in the 12-day-old festival as they finished at the bottom of the log with no single medal to their credit.
