The President of the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) Igoche Mark has urged the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development under the leadership of Sunday Dare to do the right thing as it’s concern the development of grassroots basketball in Nigeria. He also said that the behaviours of FIBA in the recent times has shown that they have been blindfolded by enemies of Nigeria basketball.
Mark made this known on Tuesday  during a media parley with sports editors in Abuja.

According to the CEO of Mark D Ball Basketball championship, the leadership of the NBBF which was elected on January 31, 2022 with him as the president was not aware of another parallel elections in Benin until the Minister of sports

Sunday Dare in a
Press interview said he recognized two factions of NBBF election, while promising that the ministry will make their position known soonest which until today they are yet to do that.

Mark noted that basketball is best run by those who have the passion, love and

are ready to contribute
for the upliftment of the game and not by those who want to use it as retirement settlement.

“I believe the Minister of sports Sunday Dare knows what to do with the current crisis in NBBF because we followed the ministry instructions during our elections and also we are a team of passionate leaders who want the best for the game in Nigeria

.“Enough of the era where  men who have no business with the running of basketball hang around and turn NBBF to a  retirement federation where they hustle for retirement  benefits.

“I know one day real Fiba executives will realise the damage some of their members and enemies of Nigeria basketball have done to their image because of their selfish interests,” he said.
In the same vein, Kaduna State basketball chairman, Skambo Morrison also warned the Minister of sports, Sunday Dare over alleged plans to stamp legality on illegality, adding that they (genuine stakeholders) will not sit and watch the repeat of what happened in 2017 when Musa Kida from the back door became NBBF president.
He noted that he came to Abuja for the elections based on the letter the ministry served him as such the Minister must know that whatever happened outside Abuja on January 31, was not in line with the ministry agenda and must be discarded forthwith.”We would not fold our hands this time around to witness a repeat of what happened in 2017 where Kida and his co-travellers took over the leadership of NBBF from the back door. No wonder in tye last four years nothing absolutely nothing good has come to the game of basketball locally,” Morrison said
