Bauchi (Core Reporters) — The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four male suspects over separate cases of alleged defilement of three girls aged 10, 11 and 12, and the rape of a 20-year-old woman described by police as mentally vulnerable, Core Reporters report.

The incidents were reported in Ningi, Azare in Katagum Local Government Area, Shira and Bauchi metropolis, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib.

The Command said the arrests were part of its ongoing efforts to combat sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) across the state.

In the first case, a father from Gadar Maiwa Village in Ningi Local Government Area reported on October 9, 2026, that his 10-year-old daughter had allegedly been defiled by a 50-year-old neighbour, identified as Musa Ibrahim, also known as Musa Fawa.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly lured the girl into a guinea corn farm behind their houses before sexually assaulting her.

The victim was taken to General Hospital, Ningi, for medical examination, while the suspect was arrested. The police said he had confessed to the offence.

In a separate incident reported the same day, a 20-year-old man, identified as Yakubu Musa, was arrested over the alleged defilement of an 11-year-old girl in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.

The victim’s father, a resident of Unguwar Makafi, alleged that the suspect had lured his daughter into an empty classroom at Bakoshi Primary School, Azare, on separate occasions in September and October 2026 and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

The girl was taken to General Hospital, Azare, for medical examination. The police said the suspect had also confessed to the offence.

In Shira Local Government Area, a 40-year-old man, Abdullahi Sule, was arrested following a report that he had allegedly defiled a 12-year-old girl in Dago Village.

The report, lodged at Yana Police Division on October 8, indicated that the suspect had allegedly lured the victim on about four occasions, giving her ₦500 each time.

The police said the girl had been rescued and taken for medical care, while investigations into the incident continued.

The fourth case involved a 55-year-old man, identified as John Madaki, who was arrested over the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman described by the police as having a mental health condition.

According to the Command, the woman’s parents reported on October 10 that the suspect had allegedly lured their daughter, given her ₦1,000 and had sexual intercourse with her.

The suspect was arrested, while the victim was taken to the Police Clinic in Bauchi for medical examination.

Reacting to the incidents, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged acts and directed that all four cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.

The Command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence, particularly offences involving children and vulnerable persons.

It urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities or suspected cases of abuse to the nearest police station.

The police assured the public that the cases would be thoroughly investigated and that appropriate legal action would follow where
