The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has on behalf of all security agencies in the state reaffirmed their collective commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order as political activities intensify ahead of party primaries.

Addressing journalists at the end of a security meeting on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the Police Commissioner emphasized that while elections remain a vital pillar of democracy, they must be conducted in an atmosphere of peace, mutual respect, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
He urged politicians across party lines to avoid actions and statements capable of inciting violence or disrupting public peace, stressing that political ambition must never outweigh human life or community stability.
CP Mohammed called on political leaders to take responsibility for the conduct of their supporters, warning against violent protests, unlawful rallies, thuggery, and any activity that could lead to a breakdown of law and order. He made it clear that the era of sponsoring violence, directly or indirectly, would not be tolerated.

He further stated that security agencies would deal decisively with any form of politically motivated violence, assuring that offenders would be identified, arrested, and prosecuted regardless of their status or political affiliation.
The Commissioner also cautioned against hate speech, misinformation, and smear campaigns, noting that such actions threaten public peace and democratic stability.
Political parties and supporters were advised to conduct their activities within the confines of the law, obtain necessary approvals for rallies, and respect the rights of others to campaign freely without intimidation.
Addressing the youth, CP Mohammed urged them to resist being used as instruments of violence, encouraging them instead to embrace peace and responsible civic engagement.
He assured residents that security agencies remain united, vigilant, and fully prepared to ensure a safe environment, pledging to provide a level playing field for all political actors while taking firm action against threats to peace.
The Commissioner concluded by calling on all stakeholders; politicians, supporters, community leaders, and security agencies to work together in sustaining peace and stability in Nasarawa State.
“Peace is a collective responsibility. We must place the interest of the state above personal or partisan considerations,” he said.
