By Gabriel Kekong
Abuja (Core Reporters) Senator Sampson Ekong (PDP) representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his Economic Reforms in the last two years as he also defended his economic and security policies. He emphasised the importance of change and reform in national development.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen shortly after President Tinubu addressed the joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday, June 12 , Senator Ekong criticized those who are opposing Tinubu, saying they are unable to build alternative political platforms.
He showerd praises on the President’s economic strategy, particularly the emphasis on investment in technology and security.
Ekong opined that Nigerians are beginning to cherish the values of democracy as they are now enjoying the dividends of democracy.
He said, “When you look at the kind of infrastructure in the country now, you wil notice that we’ve achieved quite some milestones. We’ve done extensively well. We’ve done very well.
“We have a deeper consciousness now about democracy. We have a deeper consciousness that we must grow our economy because when you grow the economy, you strengthen the public confidence. I’ve always held the view that a weak economy puts pressure on democracy. So in terms of the economy, in terms of growing infrastructure, in terms of our living as a people, we’ve done well,” he said.
