Borno (Core Reporters) In their quest to keep terrorists on constant check, Troops of the Operation HADIN KAI on Thursday night, May 22, successfully repelled a terrorist attack by Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist groups on the Nigerian Army Forward Operating Base (FOB), Gajibo Village, in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The terrorists launched an attack on Gajibo Village at about 10:20 pm on Thursday, and were met with fierce resistance by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in the FOB before the swift arrival of reinforcements from the Brigade Headquarters and 134 Special Forces Battalion. Successful counter-attack was conducted, resulting in the reoccupation of the base.

During the counter-attack, at least 5 terrorists were neutralized and a cache of arms and ammunition were recovered including one AK 101 rifle, one magazine containing 13 rounds of 5.56mm NATO ammunition, 51 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and 16 rounds of 5.56mm NATO ammunition. Additionally, one unexploded grenade, one torchlight, two terrorist masks, one pair of desert boots, one Baofeng radio among others were also recovered.

The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its commitment to eradicate terrorism from Nigerian soil. Undeterred by the challenges, Operation HADIN KAI is steadfast in its resolve in intensifying the fight against terrorist groups and maintain the tempo of ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the Northeast.
