2025 budget designs to prioritize reforms that would directly benefit citizens-Says Hon Ugbor
Abuja (Core Reporters) A member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency of Benue State in the national assembly, Hon Terseer Ugbor has said that the N47.96 Trillion budget proposal presented to a joint session of the national assembly on Wednesday by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is designed to prioritize reforms that would directly benefit citizens.
This, he said will benefit particularly constituencies affected by insecurity and agricultural setbacks
The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, also expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2025 budget will deliver significant democratic dividends to Nigerians.
Ugbor who addressed the media shortly after the presentation of the budget described it as the “budget of hope,” highlighting the government’s focus on key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and security. He noted that these critical areas would drive economic growth and improve the lives of Nigerians, despite the challenges posed by insecurity, climate change, and other regional issues.
He said, “This budget clearly sets high expectations for critical sectors that will directly benefit our people.”
Ugbor noted that the 2025 budget, which allocates a record N47.96 trillion naira, is the largest ever presented in the country’s history.
“The scale of this budget reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to our development agenda and the pressing needs of Nigerians,” he stated.
He pointed out that such an ambitious budget reflects the government’s growing commitment to addressing the needs of Nigerians.
He also commended the President’s efforts to ensure that local government autonomy and constituency projects are fully funded, so the impact of federal resources reaches even the most remote communities. “The President’s focus on local government autonomy is a critical step in ensuring that every Nigerian feels the impact of this budget,” Ugbor added.
Ugbor reiterated that the government is determined to meet the expectations of Nigerians, particularly in the areas that matter most to the people. He expressed optimism that with the ongoing reforms and increased budgetary allocations, significant progress would be made across the country. He also encouraged patience, reminding Nigerians that while President Tinubu has only been in office for 18 months, the impact of these reforms would become evident in due time.
“We must be patient, as the fruits of these reforms will be seen at the grassroots level,” Ugbor advised.
