Why Nasarawa United Unveils Mangut as New Technical Adviser
Lafia (Core Reporters) In what seems a turning point and a significant move aimed at repositioning the club for greater success, Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia officially unveiled Mr. Mangut as the new Technical Adviser on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The club chairman, Mr. Solomon Babanjah said Mangut’s credentials and coaching pedigree attracted the club.
Babanjah noted that the new Technical Adviser comes with an impressive résumé, having managed several clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League and gained experience from engagements across the globe.
The contract signing was overseen by the Club Management led by Chairman Mr. Solomon Babanjah, who, while speaking at the event, praised the credentials and coaching pedigree of Mr. Mangut. According to the Chairman, the new Technical Adviser comes with an impressive résumé, having managed several clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League and gained experience from engagements across the globe.
“Your predecessor, Coach Salisu Usman, did remarkably well by rescuing the club from relegation at a time when all hope seemed lost. Today, we are firmly back in the league. It is our hope that you will build on this foundation and take the team even higher,” Mr. Babanjah stated.
He further reassured the new coach of total support from both the club’s management and the Nasarawa State Government, expressing confidence in the club’s capacity to win the 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League, by God’s grace.
Also speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Kwanta Yakubu Bohar, warmly welcomed Coach Mangut to the club, assuring him of the ministry’s and the government’s full support throughout his tenure.
“The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has graciously approved your appointment and has provided a Hilux vehicle to ease your mobility as you carry out your duties,” the Commissioner announced.
Mr. Kwanta further pledged to mobilize support for the team, promising a seamless tenure for the new coach. He also disclosed that under his leadership, the ministry had established a feeder team for Nasarawa United, aligning with one of the Nigeria Premier Football League’s core requirements for clubs.
In his response, Coach Mangut, a native of Plateau State, expressed deep gratitude to the club’s management and the people of Nasarawa State for the opportunity to serve.
“I sincerely appreciate this privilege. Being chosen for this role among many experienced applicants is not something I take lightly,” he remarked.
The new Technical Adviser promised to give his best, pledging to consolidate on the gains of his predecessor while introducing new tactics and strategies developed over his coaching career to enhance the club’s performance. He also assured that he would work closely with the Club Management, Nasarawa State Football Association, and all relevant stakeholders to deliver on the mandate placed before him.
Highlights of the event included the official signing of the agreement, presentation of the contract document to Coach Mangut, and the symbolic handover of club jerseys as souvenirs.
