The Nigerian Senate has declared it support to the Nigerian Armed Forces over the latest mishap where sixteen soldiers were killed in a community in Delta State.
The Senate Committee chairman on Defence, Senator Ahmad Lawan made the position of the red chamber known on Wednesday after the committee’s meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Armed Forces at the National Assembly.
The leadership of the Armed Forces had come to brief the Committee on what transpired, perhaps led to the murdered of their officers, and the step they are taking to bring the perpetrators to book
The immediate past President of the Senate who addressed newsmen shortly after the interaction with the Armed Forces leadership also said that the Senate is in total support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directives that the perpetrators be fish out and brought to Justice.
According to him, “we, the Senators of the federal republic of Nigeria are strongly behind the Armed Forces (we stand by our Armed Forces) and we also support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ‘s directives that the perpetrators of this heinous crime against the Armed Forces be fish out and brought to book.”
Core Reporters report that Lawan expressed hope that the perpetrators would sooner or later be arrested and brought to Justice.
Meanwhile, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has revealed the government and military authorities had agreed that no innocent persons will suffer from the outcome of March 14 killing of soldiers.
The governor gave the assurance that those culpable would be brought to book, adding that innocent citizens are assured of safety.
