U.S Based Engineer Returns to Nigeria, Backs Tinubu Re-election Bid

By Editor

An aerospace engineer and dual citizen of Nigeria and the United States, Engr. Phillip Pepple, has declared his support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing the growing strength and national appeal of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Engr. Pepple, a native of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State has spent over four decades in the United States, however, he disclosed that his decision to return to Nigeria was driven by a desire to actively contribute to the country’s political development and support the APC’s campaign efforts.

“I rate the APC very highly—about 90 out of 100. While there may be minor internal differences, the party has demonstrated strong unity and coordination, which positions it well within Nigeria’s political landscape,” he stated.

He noted that his support would span multiple areas, including electoral mobilization, logistics, and on-ground campaign activities aimed at strengthening the party’s outreach and effectiveness.

“My goal is to do everything within my capacity to support the party’s success. This includes mobilization, logistics, and active participation in campaign activities,” Pepple added.

Speaking on the factors that influenced his decision, the U.S.-based engineer said his position was informed by years of closely monitoring Nigeria’s political environment from abroad, particularly from his base in Washington State.

“As an aerospace engineer, I assess systems based on strength, stability, and performance. From my observations, the APC has demonstrated strong structural capacity and resilience,” he explained.

He further pointed to recent political developments, including the increasing number of defections into the APC, as an indication of confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu.

“When political actors continue to align with a party, it reflects a level of confidence in its leadership and direction,” he noted.

Engr. Pepple also highlighted what he described as emerging signs of economic improvement, including easing inflationary pressures and gradual stabilization of food prices.

“These are early indicators of progress. With continuity, I believe the administration can consolidate on these gains and deliver even greater results,” he said.

Engr. Pepple reaffirmed his commitment to contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic process and national development.
