Troops Raid Bandits’ Hideout Recovered Arms, Arrest Gunrunners
Achalle(Core Reporters) Troops of the Nigerian Army have achieved significant successes in recent operations aimed at ridding Taraba State and its environs of banditry and other criminal elements under OPERATION LAFIYAN JAMAA.

On March 22, 2025, troops conducted a decisive offensive on Achalle, a border community between Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State and Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, dislodging bandits and recovering a motorcycle. Troops also destroyed a critical bandit hub with over 70 huts, recovering another motorcycle and an international passport linked to a suspected criminal network.
On March 16, 2025, troops raided the residence of two notorious gunrunners, Irimiya Aboki and Tanko Adamu, recovering 4 pistols, 1 pump-action rifle, and 6 cartridges.

However, on March 20, 2025, troops arrested Alhaji Mansur Mohammad, a suspected member of a high-profile gunrunning syndicate, with 1,200,000 Naira intended for illegal arms procurement.
Core Reporters report that Troops also arrested Adamu Yakubu, a suspected high-profile bandit leader, linked to several cases of banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes.

Meanwhile, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their commitment and professionalism, assuring the public of the Brigade’s resolve to continue aggressive operations until banditry and other criminal activities are decisively curbed.
General Uwa urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
