The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Benin Region, recently carried out a clearance exercise to remove structures encroaching on the Ihovbor–Ajaokuta 330kV Transmission Line in Ihovbor Community, Edo State. The activity took place from Wednesday, 18 February to Friday, 20 February 2026.

The two-day operation aimed to reclaim TCN’s Right of Way along the transmission corridor. Ahead of the exercise, the company organised sensitisation programmes to highlight the risks of encroachment, issued a three-month notice to the host community, and provided compensation to affected persons.

The clearance was conducted by a team from TCN’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, working with the Property Department. Traditional rulers, youth leaders and other stakeholders were duly informed before the exercise began.

TCN said the action was necessary to protect lives and property while safeguarding critical power infrastructure
