The visit to the plant site was aimed at assessing the project’s progress, obtaining first-hand information on its generating capacity, commissioning timeline, and evacuation requirements for integration into the national grid.

The engagement provided an opportunity for technical discussions between TCN engineers and the project contractor, reinforcing coordination ahead of the December 2026 commissioning.

Core Reporters report that the power plant being constructed by NNPC, which will be powered by gas from the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, is expected to deliver 350MW under Phase One of the project.
