The Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider (TSP), Engr. Dr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye, along with all General Managers across the ten regional offices of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and their counterparts at the corporate headquarters, have been commended for their role in reducing the Transmission Loss Factor (TLF) across the nation’s transmission network.
This was contained in a statement signed by the General Managers Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.
According to the statement, the Managing Director/CEO of TCN, Engr. (Dr.) Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, gave the commendation on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, while declaring open a two-day quarterly meeting of Executive Directors and General Managers in Abuja. He described the achievement as clear evidence that collective efforts are yielding measurable improvements in system efficiency.
“This achievement reflects not only commitment to duty but also demonstrates that our collective efforts are producing tangible gains in system efficiency,” he said.
He urged the team to consolidate on the progress made by delivering further improvements in core operational and managerial performance. Key focus areas, he noted, include eliminating avoidable losses, strengthening maintenance culture and discipline, reducing outages, and aligning regional operations with management’s strategic direction to build a more robust transmission network.
Engr. Abdulaziz also reaffirmed management’s commitment to providing a conducive working environment. He encouraged staff to approach upcoming tasks with renewed energy, shared purpose, and unwavering dedication, emphasizing that sustained progress depends on both technical excellence and personal accountability.
In his welcome address, the ED TSP, Engr. Dr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye, stated that the meeting was convened to review company performance, identify operational challenges, and set strategic priorities for the future. He urged all General Managers to intensify efforts toward ensuring that TCN continues to effectively deliver on its mandate as the nation’s Transmission Service Provider.
He also appreciated participants for attending at short notice and pledged to institutionalize regular quarterly sessions. He emphasized the need to focus on solutions rather than assigning blame, underscoring the importance of collective responsibility in addressing systemic challenges and achieving meaningful outcomes.
Also speaking, the Executive Director, Human Resources & Corporate Services, Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi-Fadahunsi, highlighted the need to strengthen workforce readiness to support TSP’s strategic objectives. She stressed the importance of rebalancing technical and non-technical staffing and addressing imminent retirements in technical roles to ensure continuity and operational stability.
To bridge these gaps, she noted that the Human Resources department is implementing targeted initiatives, including workforce validation, enhanced technical recruitment, structured induction and role-based training for younger staff, as well as periodic retraining for experienced personnel. These measures, she said, are designed to improve workforce preparedness and support the effective delivery of TSP’s strategic priorities.
The Executive Director, Finance & Accounts, Mr. Chuks Ochijie, commended staff for sustaining operations despite limited resources. He observed that staff costs have increased significantly following the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) unbundling, which left a larger workforce within TCN, thereby exerting financial pressure amid relatively low revenue inflows.
While acknowledging these challenges, he urged continued resilience and expressed optimism that the situation would improve with sustained effort and commitment.
At the end of the two-day meeting, key resolutions were reached and will be presented to the MD/CEO for implementation. The outcomes are expected to guide immediate operational adjustments and further strengthen TCN’s commitment to building a more efficient and resilient transmission network.
