The commissioning has boosted the substation’s capacity to 135MVA, enhancing its wheeling capacity and enabling more bulk power supply to Enugu Electricity Distribution Company for distribution to Ebonyi State and parts of Cross River State.

The General Manager, Enugu Region, Dr. Thomas Inugonum, GM (Transmission), revealed that TCN has approved the procurement of a new 60MVA power transformer to replace a decommissioned leaking unit. This will add 48MW to the substation’s capacity upon completion.

Core Reporters report that this transformer project is part of the ongoing TCN-World Bank power projects aimed at further enhancing power supply in Nigeria.
