Tthe President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Isaiah Kemje Benjamin has led a powerful delegation of national executive and other members of the association on a condolence visit to the family residence of Benue State Football Association chairman, Barrister Paul Edeh.
According to a statement signed by his Media Aide, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, during the visit at Otukpo on Saturday, the SWAN President said they were there to commiserate with him and other family members, on behalf of the executive and members nationwide.
“The tragic loss of your brother came as a rude shock. We want you to know our prayers are with you and other members of the family in this trying time,” he said.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, while asking God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
In his response, Barrister Edeh thanked the SWAN President and his team for the visit, adding that it was really consoling.
Edeh who is also the President of Ratels Sports Development Foundation, explained that he was in Spain on a business trip before getting the news of his younger brother’s demise.
“I immediately cut the trip short and booked another flight to Abuja,” he informed.
It would be recalled that Simon Dennis Edeh, an officer with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who is younger brother to the Benue FA Chairman died on Wednesday, from injuries sustained from an accident while on duty in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
