Senator Natasha Brace Up for Legislative Work After Six Months Suspension
By Raphael Ekpang
Abuja (Core Reporters) Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension from the Senate has ended, and her office has been officially unsealed.
The Sergeant-at-Arms of the National Assembly, assisted by security personnel, unlocked her office (Room 205) in the Senate wing on September 23, 2025.
Akpoti-Uduaghan is expected to resume her legislative duties when the Senate reconvenes on October 7, 2025. Though, our Senate Correspondent reports that she was seen in her office at the early hours of Tuesday trying to fix some things as the cleaning is currently going on there.
A motion is likely to be presented by Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro, requiring Akpoti-Uduaghan to tender a formal apology before being officially reinstated. And that would be done on the resumption date which is now October 7, 2025.
The national assembly had earlier scheduled the resumption date for September 3, but on Monday, September, 22, the Clerk of the National Assembly (CNA) Kamoru Ogunlana Esq issued a statement announcing the postponement of resumption citing agreement by the leadership of the two chambers
Recall that Natasha, was suspended in March 2025 for protesting the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The unsealing of her office signals a potential end to her standoff with Senate President Akpabio, paving the way for her return to the Senate.
