Senator Hanga Expresses Concern Over Plight of Nigerians Masses, Urges Government to Step Up

Abuja ( Core Reporters) In a recent interview with selected journalists in his Abuja office, Senator Rufai Hanga (NNPP, Kano Central) expressed deep concern over the plight of Nigerian masses, urging the government to take immediate action to alleviate their suffering. According to Senator Hanga, the current state of affairs in the country is dire, with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.
“I’m worried about the present situation of things in the country,” Senator Hanga said. “The federal and state governments are deliberately impoverishing the masses. The prices of foodstuff may be low now, but it’s unsustainable. After the 2027 general elections, the situation might worsen if the federal government stops importing foodstuff and crashing prices.”
When asked about his decision not to defect to the APC, like many other governors and senators, Senator Hanga emphasized that his party’s ideology is centered around the interests of their followers, not personal gain. “We can only join a party that shares the same ideologies as ours,” he said. “Our doors are not completely locked against joining APC, but it must be done in a way that captures the concerns of our followers and people.”
Senator Hanga also highlighted the development progress in Kano State under the leadership of Governor Abba Yusuf. “The governor is putting the money he gets into the state for the people,” he said. “The state is getting more money than before, and it’s being used for the benefit of the people.”
However, Senator Hanga lamented the stark contrast between the government’s wealth and the people’s poverty. “The government has money, but the people are poor,” he said. “What is happening? The prices of goods may have come down, but it’s artificial and unsustainable. The government is massively importing goods, which has neutralized prices in the market. But what about the farmers? They’re not getting cheaper fertilizer, insecticides, or security to guarantee their safety while farming.”
Senator Hanga warned that the current situation is a ticking time bomb, and the government needs to take immediate action to address the root causes of poverty and hunger in the country. “We’ll begin talking on a daily basis in all the media,” he said. “We’ll reach out to the people and tell them that enough is enough. We have the right to talk as politicians, and we’ll exercise that right.”
The senator’s words are a call to action for the government to prioritize the welfare of its citizens and ensure that the country’s wealth is used for the benefit of all Nigerians.
