Senator Baasey Makes Case For Akwa-Ibom, Seeks Constituents’ Benificial Intervention From Chinese Govt
Abuja ( Core Reporters) Driven by his passion to bring dividends of democracy and attract development to his Constituents, Senator Aniekan Bassey representing Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, in the 10th Senate has made case for his state, advocating for an intervention from Chinese government to better the lot of his Constituents and the state at large.
To this end, on Friday, Sen. Bassey visited Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Cui Jianchun, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relationships for the benefit of his constituents and the state at large.
During the meeting held at the Chinese Embassy in Abuja, Senator Bassey commended the longstanding collaboration between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District Senator lauded the Chinese government’s investments in infrastructure, technology, agriculture, and capacity building across the country.
Senator Bassey used the visit to advocate for deeper engagement and tailored interventions that would directly benefit the people of Akwa Ibom State, particularly those within his senatorial district.
“I appreciate the cordial relationship between China and Nigeria and the tremendous developmental footprints you have made in our country. I believe similar cooperation can be extended to Akwa Ibom State in the areas of agriculture, education, vocational training, and infrastructure development,” Senator Bassey stated.
He expressed hope that the diplomatic engagement would open doors for future investments, knowledge exchange programmes, and sustainable development projects in the state, which, according to him, would broaden the application of Governor Umo Eno’s A.R.I.S.E Agenda.
Senator Bassey further said he was committed to positioning Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District for future benefits from international partnerships and to attract foreign investment and developmental aid to the state.
The Chinese Ambassador welcomed the Senator’s proposal and affirmed China’s readiness to expand its partnerships with subnational entities in Nigeria.
He expressed interest in collaborating with leaders who are proactive in seeking development for their people.
