The Senate Committee on FERMA has vowed to keep the new management on toes so that they will keep the nation’s roads on track.
The Committee Chairman, Senator Babangida Hussaini, representing Jigawa North West said, they (Committee) are satisfied with the caliber of persons in the board, therefore, we will keep them on their toes to deliver on their mandate.
He noted that the committee will give them all the support they needed, all the enablement for them to do their work. Having said that, “it is important to also note that the desire of any institution of government to bring about change is what matters and I believe we are beginning to learn and to understand that system is entirely different and there will be changes”
“This committee can assured you that, this new board have no reason not to work and not to perform. They have all the enablement, they have the requisite qualifications, they have the experiences, they have the diversity, and they also have the zeal and interest. And I thank Mr. President for finding them suitable to nominate the police officers. So this position is about them doing the right thing, doing the work and delivering service to Nigerians.
“We, in the committee have the commitment and determination to keep them on their toes. We’ll make sure that the right thing is done, oversight them as often as possible. And as I said it here during the screening, that we’re going to be reporting them every day, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We’re not going to relent on that. We’re going to work for the benefit of Nigerians,
“You know, the 10th assembly is very desirous of making sure that everybody does his job and will oversee them accordingly. So the issues in terms of their competence, in terms of their abilities, not in doubt, but the point to really hammer on is about the need to have that synergy, to have that operational relationship so that at any point in time, we should be able to see when things are right and commend, when there are wrong, we correct and admonish them,” Senator Hussaini said.
