The Senate committee chairman on Federal character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Allwell Onyesoh representing Rivers East Senatorial District at the national assembly has assured that his committee will stop at nothing until they are sure that federal character principle is observe to the later in national assembly job’s employement.

Sen. Onyeso made this known in an interview with journalists on Wednesday in Abuja after his committee meeting with the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC)

He said the essence of federal character principle is for fairness, unity and equity in the distribution of jobs, infrastructure and so on, therefore, the committee was not satisfied with the explanation of the NASC over the distribution of jobs in NASS.

According to him, “we need further explanation because the NASC does not answered our question explicitly, so for us to get to the roots, we asked for further explanation by way of documents, to break it down to states and to Local Goveenmwnt Areas. This is because I have a situation where a region has 1024 workers out of 3000 and you now go home with the view that this zone is over represented, but you will be shock to know that  three fiveq states in that zone does not have anything.

“The essence of federal character commission is to ensure that people get what the deserve, so that they will have that sense of belonging that this country belong to all of us. And  when once that is not done the essence and purpose of the federal character principle is defeated,” he said.

He frowned at a situation where some states get National Assembly jobs and are domiciled only in a  few LGAs, and in few villages.
