The Senate Committee on Housing and Urban Development are advocating for a “Housing Summit ‘ to enable it in collaboration with the federal government find out the easier way of tackling housing deficit in Nigeria.
The Committee led by the immediate past governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Tambuwal on Tuesday resolved to tackling with vigours the issue of housing deficit in the country with the view to provide houses for teaming population of the low income earners in Nigeria
However, the Committee identified the fact that housing laws are becoming morinbun as such needs a review.
Sen. Tambuwal, who was impressed with contributions from members in their inaugural Meeting said, their job is not to provide houses only but to provide jobs to the teaming unemployed youths.
He also said that the committee would be meeting the Minister of housing and urban development as well as vital stakeholders in the sector.
