Suspected fraud star Abdulkadir Ibrahim,

Police operatives attached to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia have arrested one Abdulkadir Ibrahim, for allegedly impersonating Barr. Mamman Toro Alakayi, the commissioner representing Nasarawa state at Federal Character Commission.
The suspect, 27, hails from Azara in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
A press statement issued by the Nasarawa state police spokesperson DSP Ramhan Mandel, said that the imposter had defrauded unsuspecting members of the public to the tune of Nine Million Naira (#9,000,000).
The statement read in parts,” The suspect has been posing on one of the social media platforms as Barr. Mamman Toro Alakayi, fraudulently obtained money from members of the public under the guise of offering them employment at Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional service, Independent National Electoral Commission and Federal Inland Revenue Service.
“Consequently, a search warrant was executed at his residence where two appointment letters from the National Taskforce (NATFORCE) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were recovered; also, six (6) documentation forms from the Nigerian Immigration Service all bearing different names were also recovered from the suspect as exhibit and he has confessed to the commission of the crime.
“The investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia upon conclusion, he will be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution” The statement reads.
In another development, the Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has called on the management of the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), to go beyond dissociating itself from the shameful act perpetrated by a senior lecturer at the institution, Dr. Fred Ekpa Ayokha, 53, and sanction the culprit to serve as deterrent to others.
Engineer Sule made the call during a condolence to the Government House by the management of the Federal University,lafia,led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdur-Rahman, on Thursday.
While appreciating the university management for dissociating itself from the conduct of the lecturer, the Governor however called on the university to further sanction the culprit in order to send a message that such conduct is unacceptable.
“And I am happy, to hear that the management has since disassociated itself from that shameful act. But I want to call on you to in addition to dissociating yourself to send a message that that is not acceptable.
“You have to send a message clearly no matter the position of the lecturer. The lecturer must go through proper punishment for such act so that it must be serve as deterrent,” Engineer Sule stated.
