Abuja (Core Reporters) – The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant operational successes across several states in the last 24 hours, including the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the arrest of multiple murder, armed robbery and cultism suspects, and the recovery of illegal firearms and ammunition.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Aniedu, in Zamfara State, police tactical teams engaged armed bandits during pursuit operations, leading to the rescue of five kidnapped victims comprising the wife of a local government chairman and four children. The victims have been reunited with their family, while joint security operations continue to rescue the remaining captives and recover police rifles stolen during the attack.
In Enugu State, community security operatives on patrol exchanged gunfire with suspected members of the proscribed IPOB/ESN, resulting in the neutralisation of one suspect. Separately, police arrested three suspects over an attempted child theft case, with investigations ongoing.

The Force also recorded multiple breakthroughs in homicide investigations. In Benue State, detectives arrested two suspects linked to a fatal stabbing incident, while another suspect was apprehended for allegedly killing his father. In Bauchi State, police swiftly arrested the principal suspect in another stabbing case and have launched a manhunt for an accomplice who fled the scene.
In Ekiti State, police rescued two suspected armed robbers from a mob, took them into custody for investigation and recovered a suspected operational vehicle used in criminal activities.
In Imo State, seven suspected cult members were arrested during stop-and-search operations. Officers recovered a locally fabricated pistol, a live cartridge and hard drugs, while the suspects reportedly confessed to involvement in cult-related activities. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.

The Force also intensified efforts against the proliferation of illegal firearms. In Katsina State, officers recovered an AK-47 rifle, three rounds of live ammunition and an operational motorcycle abandoned by fleeing bandits during a patrol.
Similarly, in Delta State, intelligence-led and patrol operations led to the arrest of two suspects in separate incidents. Police recovered a Beretta pistol from one suspect and a cut-to-size single-barrel firearm from another.
The Nigeria Police Force said investigations into the various cases are ongoing and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations, strengthening public safety, and bringing criminal elements to justice across the country.
The Force urged members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information that will aid ongoing security operations.
