The Rivers State Police Command, through the Rivers Police Medical Services, has flagged off the “Know Your Number Campaign” to promote preventive healthcare among police personnel, their families, and members of the public.
The campaign, organised in partnership with Healthlink and Bridge Initiative and the Police Health Maintenance Organisation (Police HMO), is aimed at encouraging regular health checks for early detection and timely treatment of medical conditions.
The event, held at the Command Headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, featured free screenings for hypertension, haemoglobin levels, urinalysis, and other vital health assessments, alongside health education sessions on healthy living and overall well-being.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Alhasan Kawu Yahaya, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the welfare of officers and the public. He stressed that regular medical check-ups are essential to maintaining a healthy, alert, and effective police workforce.
Furthermore, he commended the Rivers Police Medical Services, Healthlink and Bridge Initiative, and the Police HMO for their support, describing the initiative as timely, impactful, and worthy of emulation. He noted that it aligns with the welfare-driven vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, whose leadership continues to prioritize the health and well-being of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Rivers State Police Command urges the public to embrace preventive healthcare as a key step toward healthier and more productive living.
