Free State police have confirmed the arrest of a teenager overt his 60-year-old aunt who was found dead at her home.
The police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the boy had just returned from school on Tuesday at around 14:00 when he discovered the body in a pool of blood.
He said it looked like the woman had been hit on the forehead with a blunt object.
According to the Free State police spokesperson, “His mother and police arrived and found that the 60-year-old woman, who is the sister-in-law to the son’s mother, was allegedly murdered, and not excluding the possibility of having been raped.”
However, the police believe that the child’s 18-year-old brother could be the killer and have arrested him.
Mophiring said preliminary investigations had established that the teenager, who lived in the same house, could be involved after police found evidence that led to his arrest.
He said the teen was expected to appear in Makwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
