Plateau Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Recover ₦8m Ransom

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE, deployed in Sector 9, Shendam, have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered eight million naira (#8, 000, 000) ransom paid by her family during a coordinated operation on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The operation highlighted the military’s sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks and protect lives within the Joint Operations Area.
According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the rescue mission followed the abduction of a female victim from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area on April 19, 2026.
Through intensive intelligence gathering and the interrogation of a suspect who confessed to the crime, troops identified the victim’s location at Padam Forest in Quanpan Local Government Area, where she was successfully rescued.

The troops also recovered the sum of ₦8 million, earlier paid as ransom by the victim’s family. After the rescue, the victim was taken to the General Hospital, Shendam, for medical evaluation before being reunited with her family. The recovered ransom was subsequently returned.
Meanwhile, troops have intensified follow-up operations in Quanpan and Shendam LGAs to track down and apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
