NVBF Board Member Expresses Hope in Female Volleyball’s Future
Abuja (Core Reporters) Chinedu Odozor-Onikeku, a newly elected board member of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), has expressed optimism about the future of female volleyball players, stating that the future is bright for the girls.

Speaking on October 2, 2025, on the final day of the first phase of the 2025 CGC Volleyball Premier League tournament in Abuja, Odozor-Onikeku praised the steady rise of female volleyball in the country.
Regarding the performance of the girls at the tournament, she said, “We are doing well so far, and I believe we are gradually getting there, although there is still more to be achieved. These experiences have shown the value of perseverance, and I am confident that things will continue to improve.”
Odozor-Onikeku emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for young girls in volleyball, noting that such support would not only boost the sport but also uplift communities.
“What matters most is building a system that benefits both the players and society at large,” she added. “With consistent effort—through training, mentorship, and exposure—female volleyball in Nigeria will surely reach greater heights.”
Core Reporters reported that the 2025 CGC Volleyball Premier League featured 24 teams, with 12 male and 12 female teams competing for supremacy. The tournament has become a highlight of Nigeria’s volleyball calendar, with increased investment and stronger commitment from stakeholders positioning volleyball as one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports
