NSC Pledges Support to NFF, FIFA on Forward Project 3.0
Abuja (Core Reporters) The National Sports Commission (NSC) has pledged it support to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and FIFA on the proposed FIFA Forward Project 3.0 located at the FIFA Goal Project Package B, MKO Abiola National Stadium.
NSC Chairman, Shehu Dikko who was on inspection tour of the FIFA on the proposed FIFA Forward Project 3.0 located at the FIFA Goal Project Package B, MKO Abiola National Stadium alongside with the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau on Thursday, February 5, 2025 expressed his delights on the project, sayin its clearly in alignment with the vision and objectives of the NSC.
According to him, “I was highly elated to, along with the NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and his team on 05.02.25, inspect the proposed site of this project preparatory to the formal unveiling within the month.
“The ambitious project comprising the NFF Hotel and new training Pitches is designed to establish state-of-the-art accommodation and training facilities intended specifically for the national football teams. This as expected would provide a conducive atmosphere for national teams’ trainings, free NFF of the humongous expenses incurred regularly in accommodating the different national teams and could be commercialized as an international training site for other national teams to generate revenues.
“This project is personally very dear to my heart as I was privileged to be the “FIFA Goal” Project manager for Nigeria in 2003 and led the process when the first phase of the project was conceived, the land secured, building commenced and completed in 2005 and has been a bedrock of football development in Nigeria for decades.
“Thus it’s quite exciting to see the NFF under the leadership of Ibrahim Gusau advancing the next phase of the project to this level at this auspicious time of focused and deliberate reforms of Nigerian sports under the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria Sports Economy (RHINES) framework and indeed the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
“The project is clearly in alignment with the vision and objectives of the NSC. The NSC is therefore committed to supporting the NFF and indeed FIFA to ensure the success of and full utilization of this project,” he said.
