NPFL: Pillars pip Nasarawa Utd 1-0 extend lead at top of the table

Kano State based Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Kano Pillars on Wednesday in a mid-week tie of the ongoing NPFL piped Nasarawa United 1-0 to extend the lead at the top of the table.

The Sai masu gida are currently top of the table with 44 points in 23 games, followed by Akwa Utd with 41 points in 22 games, while Kwara Utd are in the third position with 40 points in 22 games and Rivers Utd are in the fourth position with 40 points in 23 games

Auwalu Ali Malam got the only goal of the encounter at 25 minutes into the game.

Akwa Starlet defeated Ifeanyi Uba  2-1 in Uyo, Adanawa Utd also came victorious against Kasina Utd as the game ended 1-0, Warri Wolves also defeated Lobi Stars 1-0, while Enyimba International overpowered struggling Wikki Tourists with 2-1 at Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, as Kwara United played a 1-1 draw against visiting Rivers Utd and Sunshine Stars of Akure played a goalless draw against visiting MFM.

Meanwhile, Adamawa Utd, Ifeanyi Uba, Sunshine Star and Katsina Utd are struggling with the relegation waters with fifteen matches to the end of the season.
