The Chairman of a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Kano Pillars, Alhaji Surajo Yahaya Jambul has said that the players and the technical crew are motivated to finish the 2020/21 season top of the table.
Jambul in a telephone conversation with New National Star over the weekend said, despite the 1-0 defeat they suffered in the hands of their hosts, Akwa United, Pillars are ready to prove their worth as the league advances.
Pillars broke the unbeaten run of Rivers United in a midweek game played at Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna last week before losing 0-1 to Akwa United in Uyo on Saturday.
The Sai Masu Gida’s boss revealed that Kano Pillars’ players and officials are enjoying the goodwill of Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje who is ready to stop at nothing to make sure they are well taken care off.
However, he noted that the new form of Pillars was as a result of their long term training, adding that their early preparation for CAF Confederation Cup, though they were kicked out at the preliminary stage, is going to be an advantage to the team as the league progresses.
“The secret of our new form is long term preparation, we’ve been on the road preparing for the continental of which eventually we lost out but we continue with our preparation and now it is getting momentum, we are in high gear now we are ready for anyone, anywhere and anytime.
“Our current form is as a result of dedication, hard work and diligence. Our players are not lacking in motivation because we pay them regularly, and you know we are at the frontline in the country in terms of club motivation and welfare in general. Whatever we need my governor is ready to do for the team.
“Though we lost 0-1 to Akwa United today (Saturday) in Uyo we are not going to be detached by that rather we will go back and come out stronger in our subsequent matches.
On the officiating and the general management of the league, he said the officiating has improved drastically this season that is why it is hard to say which team is playing home.
“Officiating and the management of the league this season has been wonderful, there haven’t been differences between playing at home and playing away, therefore those are the things we like in Pillars where teams are given equal opportunity. I can assure you with this fantastic officiating in the league, Pillars will end the season very high,” Jambul boasted..
