There was drama in Ijebu Ode on Monday evening as visiting Wikki Tourists walked-over Sunshine Stars of Akure in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week two game.
The week one match between the two NPFL sides was scheduled to take place on Tuesday (Today) but was later re-scheduled for yesterday (Monday) but the Akure based NPFL side failed to show up at Ijebu Ode and they were walked-over.
It was reported that when the officials and Wikki Tourists team arrived at the stadium they waited until 4; 15 pm without Sunshine Stars on sight.
However, the centre referee Bashir Salihu addressed Wikki Tourists players saying that they have done the needful by reporting for the match, adding that he will inform the relevant authority (LMC) on what transpired in Ijebu Ode.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the officials of the League Management Company (LMC) and that of Sunshine Stars were yet to make official comments on the issue.
