As hostilities resumed in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) across the country for the second stanza, the Uyo and Kano based NPFL sides, have moved to the top of the 2020/21 table as they won their match respectively. Meanwhile, the Kwara United title’s chase was deemed on Sunday as they lost 2-0 to Nasarawa United in Lafia.
However, Akwa United and Kano Pillars have leapfrog Kwara united to the first and second position at the log respectively having defeated Sunshine Stars 2-1 in Uyo and Pillars picked an away point over the weekend.
The Uyo and Kano based NPFL sides are both having 37 points in 20 games but with goal differences, while third place Kwawa united are thrilling with 36 points, while Rivers United and Enugu Rangers are in fourth and fifth position respectively.
However, relegation threaten Katsina United recorded the biggest win of the week, as they humbled struggling Wikki Tourists by 5-1
In other games played across the country in week 20 of the ongoing NPFL; Rivers united defeated Akwa Starlet 2-0, Plateau United also recorded 2-1 against Abia WarriorsWarrios in Port Harcourt, while Enugu Rangers defeated their hosts, Enyimba FC 2-0 and Heartland escape with a 1-0 victory against Adamawa United.
Meanwhile, Jigawa Golden Star on Saturday defeated Lobi Stars 2-1.
