NOA Flag Off Initiative To Promote Positive Government Narratives
Abuja (Core Reporters) The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has launched an initiative called “Nigeria Has Happened to Me” to promote positive government narratives and counter negative sentiments about Nigeria. The program aims to highlight real-life success stories of individuals whose lives have been positively transformed by government policies ¹.
The initiative was unveiled during a stakeholders’ meeting at the NOA headquarters in Abuja, where representatives from various government institutions gathered to discuss strategies for effectively communicating government services to citizens.
According to the Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the phrase “Nigeria Happened to Me” has often been used by Nigerians to express frustration with the country’s systems. However, the NOA seeks to redefine this phrase by showcasing individuals who have benefited from government policies.
Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, while addressing the stakeholders emphasized the need for a shift in narrative, adding that the programme will enhance public awareness of government initiative.
Key Components of the Initiative:
– *Partnership with Media Companies*: NOA has partnered with 50 media companies to produce five-minute documentaries featuring beneficiaries of various government programs.
– *Documentaries*: The documentaries will highlight success stories in key sectors such as education, agriculture, housing, security, and healthcare.
– *National Reach*: With over 818 offices nationwide, NOA has the reach and capacity to directly engage citizens and promote this counter-narrative.
The campaign is expected to boost public confidence in government initiatives and encourage wider participation in available opportunities.
