Zaira (Core Reporters) The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has charged the passing out boys to be disciplined, resilient, and patriotic young men. This, as the Nigerian Military School (NMS) celebrated its 67th Passing Out Parade on Saturday, August 9, 2025 in a grand style.

The COAS, who was the Special Guest of Honour in his address, congratulated the boys on their achievement, describing it as a testament to their hard work, resilience, and commitment to the values of duty, discipline, and patriotism.

He noted that over the past six years, the boys had overcome physical and mental challenges that demanded their best. “You have learned the essence of teamwork, selflessness, and integrity,” he said. “These experiences have shaped you into soldiers, guardians of our sovereignty, defenders of our democracy, and symbols of national pride.”

General Oluyede who was represented at the passing out parade by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Major General Mayirenso Saraso also reiterated his Command Philosophy, which is anchored on readiness, operational effectiveness, sound administration, and cooperation with stakeholders. He emphasized the importance of the “Soldier First” concept, which prioritizes the welfare and morale of soldiers.

The Nigerian Army, according to the COAS, has continued to invest in improving living conditions, welfare schemes, and career development policies for its personnel.

Core Reporters report that as part of the celebrations, various projects were commissioned, including the remodelled Calabar Company, NMS House, and PSOs’ house. The event ended with a group photograph of dignitaries.
