The Ministry of Youths and Sports Development has made available free buses to ride willing fans to the MKO Abiola National Stadium, the venue of a must win world cup playoff tie between the Super Eagles and the Black Star of Ghana Tuesday.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had secured the go-ahead of CAF to fill up the Stadium on for the encounter.
Nigeria host fierce rivals Ghana in a tie the Super Eagles must win by any margin on today, following a 0-0 draw in Kumasi on Friday.
The buses will be available at places such as Keffi, Auta Balefi, Masaka, Maraba, Nyanya, Orozo, Kurudu, Jikoyi, Suleja Madalla, Zuba and DeiDei. There will also be buses from Kubwa, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Lugbe, Mpape, Life Camp, Eagle Square, Old Parade Ground, Area 3, Kabusa, Apo Mechanic and Gwarinpa, all heading to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
However, NFF has assured that safety and security will be top-notch for the match, and warned spectators to be law-abiding and observe simple directives and instructions on the day.
Meanwhile, the Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has stated that the team is fully concentrated on today’s Qatar 2022 playoff duel with Ghana’s Black Stars, adding that players determined to put up a performance that will earn Nigeria a seventh appearance at football’s fiesta since her debut in 1994.
Musa said, “All the players, including myself, want to go to the World Cup. For me, it is very important because it could be my last World Cup. I enjoyed the last two finals that I participated in, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018. I want to experience it again. Most of the players in the present squad have not been to the World Cup and they desire to be there.
“We all know it won’t be easy. Ghana will come here to do battle but we are ready for whatever they turn up with. I will not say more than that.”
On paper Nigeria has an advantage to pull through to Qatar when West African brothers log horns on Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. They are to play in front of a capacity 60,000 fans.
Meanwhile, the last time both countries were involved in a FIFA World Cup qualifying was in 2001, when they finished 0-0 in Accra and Nigeria swept aside their visitors 3-0 in Port Harcourt in July 2001 to qualify for Korea/Japan.
Core Reporters have warned that if Augustine Eguavoen led team do not take the encounter very seriously they will be surprise of the outcome of the the game on Tuesday.
According to Core Reporters, there is no guarantee that the Eagles can beat the Black Stars easily even in Abuja, while noting that the possibility of the game going into penalty is very high considering the outcome last Friday in Kumasi, Ghana.
