Abuja (Core Reporters) The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with key institutions to combat financial crimes, enhance community policing, improve professional training, and bolster emergency response nationwide.
The commitment was made during separate courtesy visits by the leadership of the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

During the visit by the NFIU delegation, led by its Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hajia Hafsat Abubakar Bakari, discussions focused on strengthening operational synergy, enhancing intelligence sharing, and institutionalizing strategic collaboration between both agencies.
Bakari described the partnership as critical to Nigeria’s national security architecture, noting that the forthcoming 2027 Mutual Evaluation would assess how effectively the Nigeria Police Force utilizes financial intelligence to combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and other financial crimes.
She commended the Inspector-General for approving a joint stock-taking exercise between both institutions and called for deeper collaboration, including expanding Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) awareness across police commands and formations nationwide.
The NFIU Director also expressed condolences to the Nigeria Police Force over officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and reaffirmed the agency’s continued support.
Responding, IGP Disu emphasized the need for a stronger and more coordinated partnership, highlighting the strategic role of the Force’s specialised Anti-Money Laundering Unit and other operational divisions in tackling financial crimes, terrorism financing, banditry, and transnational criminal activities.
He called for sustained advanced training for police personnel, continuous access to actionable financial intelligence, and modern investigative tools to improve investigations and secure more convictions.
In a separate engagement, the IGP received the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, alongside members of the Society’s leadership.
Rabiu congratulated the Inspector-General on the achievements recorded under his leadership and appreciated the longstanding relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the NSE.
He also informed the Police leadership of the Society’s forthcoming 2026 International Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting in Maiduguri, Borno State, and sought continued security support and participation from the Force.
In his remarks, IGP Disu described engineers as indispensable partners in national development and assured the Society of adequate security for the conference.
He further urged the NSE to support the Force’s community policing initiatives through public enlightenment while advocating closer collaboration in police training, capacity building, emergency response, and disaster management.
