Minister of Works, H.E. Sen. (Engr.) David Umahi, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the management of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited. He said the project will feature durable concrete technology with a lifespan of 50–100 years and will be presented to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for ratification.

Umahi also announced the approval of solar-powered street lighting and tree planting along major road corridors to improve visibility, security, and economic activity in host communities.

To further strengthen safety, the government plans to deploy Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems on major highways, supported by monitoring centres aimed at reducing emergency response times to under 10 minutes.

The project design includes rest areas, service facilities, and truck parking yards to ease congestion and improve logistics. Contractors have been directed to reinvest cost savings into additional solar lighting and landscaping.

The government has set a strict 12-month completion timeline, with measures in place to prevent cost variations and ensure value for money.

Umahi described the administration’s infrastructure drive as unprecedented, noting its growing impact nationwide. He reaffirmed the government’s focus on delivering world-class infrastructure that supports economic growth and improves citizens’ quality of life.

During the visit, NLNG Managing Director, Engr. Adeleye Falade, presented a model Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) ship, highlighting the company’s commitment to cleaner energy and sustainable transport solutions.
