Nigeria Government Congratulates First Female President-Elect of Namibia Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah
Abuja (Core Reporters, Swimming in the euphoria of advancement of democracy in Africa, the Fedeal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has congratulated the President-elect of Republic of Namibia, Her Excellency Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah over her victory at the just concluded poll.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa said, the government of Nigeria looks forward to further strengthening her relationship with the Southern African’s country.
The statement reads, “The Federal Republic of Nigeria congratulates Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on her historic election as the first female President of the Republic of Namibia..
“The people of Namibia have indeed voted for stability. Therefore, the Government of Nigeria looks forward to further strengthening our historic, strong, and vibrant relationship during her tenure in office for the benefit of our people,” the statement said.
Core Reporters report that Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is the current Vice President of the country and her electoral victory as confirmed by the Electoral Commission of Namibia on Tuesday will extend the ruling SWAPO’s reign in power since independence.
Recall that the results published by the electoral commission on Tuesday showed that she won the presidential elections outrightly in the first round with 57% of the vote, clearing half the total votes cast to skipped second-round runoff.
“The Namibian nation has voted for peace and stability,” Nandi-Ndaitwah said after being declared president-elect.
