The chairperson of the governing council of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Dr. Salamatu Husseini has said that NHRC organise quiz for Junior secondary schools in FCT to empower them with knowledge, skills, attitude to uphold human rights them with the knowledge, skills and attitude promoting behaviours that uphold Human rights.
The chairperson of the governing council of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Dr. Salamatu Husseini in her opening remarks said the NHRC in fulfilment of its mandate to promote and protect human rights has organised the quiz competition between government and private Junior Secondary schools in FCT to deepen their knowledge about human rights
She started that while, the commemoration of 2023 International Human Rights Day avails the commission the opportunity to sensitize and educate the students on issues of Huma rights, it’s also empowers them with the knowledge, skills and attitude promoting behaviours that uphold Human rights.
According to her, “Today we gather not only to celebrate the principles that unite us but to ignite the spirit of knowledge through a quiz competition designed to empower our future leaders. As we delve into questions that echo the essence of human rights, may this year event foster deeper understanding and commitment to the universal values that binds us together.
“I will like to commend all the participatory schools for indicating interest and being part of this competition. It is mu utmost desire and hope that we all will continue to work towards building a culture of respect for human rights in Nigeria,” she said.
However, the competition is featuring eight schools; Junior Secondary School Area 11, Garki Abuja, Model Secondary school Maitama, Command Day Secondary School a Maitama, Junior Secondary school, Apo Legislative Quarters,
