…Thanks stakeholders for supporting his team
The newly elected Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) President, Igoche Mark has extended his hand of fellowship to the immediate past President of the federation Engr. Musa Kida, while thanking all stakeholders who came out at the election in Abuja to rescue the game from the hands of death.
In a statement on Monday in Abuja, Mark said, “On behalf of the board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), I want to thank all stakeholders who came out on Saturday to rescue basketball from the hands of death, this they did by electing us to run the affairs of the federation in the next four years.
The statement read in parts, “As I promised in my speech on Saturday, we are committed with strong zest in reviving basketball especially by organising a viable domestic league, training our technical officials, building the capacity of our coaches and also, improving the welfare of our players (home and abroad).
“In the coming days, the board of NBBF shall release a detailed blueprint of our developmental programmes and other deliverables we intend to achieve.
My plea is for everyone to unite with us and let us together build the game of basketball. Enough of bickering, backbiting and campaign of calumny. Together, let’s build this game, as the dark days are over,” he said.
It will be recalled that the embattled immediate past NBBF President, Musa Kida led his cronies to Benin the Edo State capital same Saturday with the intention to truncate the NBBF elections as directed by the ministry of youth and sports development that the election should be held in Abuja under strict security monitor.
