National Assembly Extends Lawmakers’ Resumption Date to May 6,
Abuja (Core Reporters) The management of the National Assembly has extended the plenary resumption date of the senators and members house of representatives to the 6th of April, 2025.
The federal lawmakers have proceeded to a recess late last month to allow their Muslim and Christian colleagues to join their constituents in celebrating Sallah and Easter respectively.
Recall that their initial plenary resumption date was 29th May, 2025, but in a statement signed by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana and made available to Core Reporters on Monday, April, 2025, the extension was to enable the lawmakers participate in the Workers’ Day ceremony and attend to other engagements in their constituencies.
The statement reads, “I am directed to inform Distinguished Senators, Honourable Members, and the general public that the two Houses of the National Assembly have extended the date for the resumption of plenary sessions from Tuesday, 29th April 2025, to Tuesday, 6th May 2025.
“This extension allows Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members to participate in the Workers’ Day ceremony and attend to other engagements in their constituencies.
“Distinguished Senators, Honourable Members, and the general public are invited to take note of the new resumption date.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” the statement said.
