The former general secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (Barr. Musa Amadu) has promised to lead a football federation that must strive to achieve the vision to restore Nigeria Football glory.
Amadu made his intention known on Tuesday in Abuja in a World Press Conference fully attended by past and present football administrators in the country as well as other stakeholders.
Why declaring his intention to contest for the NFF President he said, “I stand before you in humility and with all sense of responsibilities to declare my interest to contest for the Office of the President of the Nigeria Football Federation. This gathering tells the story. What it doesn’t say is why. What it also does not say is what I intend to bring that will be different from what has been.
“You came because you wanted to listen to me. You came because something told you that I have something to offer and you felt it would be worth your while to come and hear me out. I thank you for this. I am honoured.”People are always quick to ask me, what is wrong in Nigerian football that I want to fix? What makes me think I can fix these ills? And I always answer – my focus is not only on what is wrong. My friends, elders and colleagues, my focus is on what can be made right!We want to build an image of Nigerian football that will make the Nigerian person walk tall in the street anywhere in the world and be referred to as ‘the guy or lady who comes from that football country where everything is well-run’.”We want to create opportunities for people who hitherto would not have had a chance to be anywhere near a football field – job opportunities that will take our youth off the streets, football opportunities that will empower every sector of our society and create gainful employment.
And what about those that are in the game? We want to create the real feel-good factor, a sense of belonging in the long run. In short, for those that come into contact with the game and those who would not have had the chance, we will give life-defining experiences that will be unforgettable.
“Again, I say, we just need to get it right!To get it right, my plan is to lead a team that must strive to achieve the “Vision to Restore Nigeria Football Glory,” he said.
