MURIC Abuja Convenes Top Security, Religious Leaders to Address Insecurity, Drug Abuse
Abuja (Core Reporters) Irked by the insecurity ravaging the nation, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Abuja Chapter, has announced that it will host a public lecture aimed at addressing the rising challenges of insecurity and drug abuse in Nigeria. The lecture is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 17th January 2026, at the National Mosque Conference Hall, Central Area, Abuja, commencing at 10:00am prompt.
According to Lukman Laleye Babalola, PRO of MURIC Abuja Chapter, the lecture is themed “Towards Changing the Narrative on Insecurity and Drug Abuse in Nigeria for Better,” with a focus on “The Role of the Ummah in Addressing Insecurity and Drug Abuse in Nigeria.” The programme seeks to awaken collective responsibility and mobilize the Muslim community and the wider society toward practical, value-driven solutions.
Distinguished speakers at the event include: Prof. Ishaq Akintola, Founder and Executive Director, MURIC Mr. Femi Babafemi, Director, Media & Advocacy, NDLEA Hajia Rahma Musa Sani, Deputy Ameera, Women in Da’wah Special guests of honour include RT. Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman, NDLEA, and Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector General of Police. Prof. Abba Gambo, FHSN, Agric Adviser, Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), will serve as Chairman of the Occasion, while Hajia Amina A. Abdullahi, mni, Ameera of Al-Ansar (The Helpers), will serve as Chairperson. Traditional rulers including HRH Alh. Ibrahim Usman Jibril (Emir of Nasarawa) and HRH Alh. Haruna Jibril Tanko (Gomo of Kuje),Our Christian Guest of Honour Rev.Dr. Simon A.S. Dolly-KIF,HFCDA (Zonal Secretary, Christian Association of Nigeria, North Central), as well as other faith and community leaders, are also expected to attend.
The lecture will be hosted by Ustaz Yunus Salahudeen, Chairman, MURIC Abuja Chapter. Members of the public, youth groups, faith leaders, and civil society actors are encouraged to attend and participate in this timely initiative.
