The Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Paulyn Tallen has called on the justice system in Nigeria to priorities cases involving women, children and the vulnerable on their respective courts.
She made the call on Wednesday in Abuja during the event organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to commemorate the 2022 international day of human rights with the theme, “Dignity freedom and Justice for all.”
According to her, on a daily basis women, children and the vulnerable’s rights are been trampled upon. Therefore, she said there is need for the judiciary and other well meaning Nigerians to join hands with the NHRC in their respective areas to battle the menace.
She, however, urged the civil society organisations to keep doing what they have been known for, fighting for the oppressed in our society.
“I want to use this medium to call on the justice system in Nigeria to step up and address issue against gender based violent such as rape, child abuse and so many others.”I want to also thank you Civil Society Organisation for what you have been doing in protecting the rights of these categories of persons and urged you to please keep doing your good works and also increase doing it because human rights of vulnerable Nigerians are been trampled upon on a daily basis.
