Abuja (Core Reporters) Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar has reiterated the federal government commitment to strengthening her long-standing bilateral relationship with the Arab Republic of Egypt. The relationship he said has spanned over decades, precisely dated back in the days of the farmer’s Independence.
Tuggar made this known on Monday, July 21, 2025 in Abuja when he received an Egyptian delegation led by its Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty.
He noted that the visit by the delegation was in continuation of the ongoing discussion and dialogue between the two countries initiated to elevate the long standing relationship.
“The relationship between Egypt and Nigeria has gone beyond mere trade and all that, it is dated back to our independence and we are both in so many platforms across the globe-coupled with the fact that the two countries constituted about one-quarter of the total population of the entire African.”
Tuggard said that the delegation which included top business moguls and others shall meet with Nigeria’s robust private sector.
On his part, the leader of the delegation and Egyptian minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty conveyed the Egyptian government condolences to the government of Nigeria over the passing on of her late former President Muhammadu Buhari who died in a London hospital.
Abdelatty noted that Buhari was a great Nigeria’s leader who fought terrorism in during his days as the president.
Also, he said the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt is committed to strengthening the longstanding relationship with Nigeria, stressing that the decades-long political economy relationship has blossomed, hence needs improvement in other areas.
Abdelatty recalled that in January this year he received a delegation from Nigeria led by Amb. Yusuf Tuggar and this was the second leg of that visit.
Core Reporters report that the Egyptian government offers to partner with Nigeria in the fight against terrorism using other approaches rather than the normal security approach.
