Mighty Jets mourn Jide Dina


The management and players of Mighty Jet FC of Jos have mourned the passing away of one of their former legendary footballers, Jide Dina, who died on Thursday, March 11, 2021, after a protracted illness. The club also confirmed his demise.

In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity, Mighty Jets international FC, Mbum Modogar Ferdinand, the Chairman of the club, Chief Alex Wukari said they have communicated with the family of the late Dina, adding that the family will announce burial arrangements soon.

The statement read in parts, “We regret to announce the passing on to great beyond of one of our former legendary footballers, Jide Dina, who died on Thursday, 11 March 2021 after a protracted illness.

“On behalf of the players, management and supporters of our great club,  I pray for God Almighty in his infinite mercies to accept his soul and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“We will liaise with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and work closely with his immediate family to ensure a befitting funeral for our late football legend

“The management considers the death of the former Nigeria International a great loss not only to the Mighty Jets family but the entire nation,” the statement reads.

Recalled that, Jide Dina, was a member of the Green Eagles squad ahead of the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada, though was dropped at the last minute for Segun Odegbami and he was also part of Nigeria’s Green Eagles Squad that won a second consecutive bronze medal at the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Accra, Ghana.
