The League Management Company, LMC has expelled Niger Tornadoes’ Goalkeeper Trainer, Bello Mohammed from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and its activities.
This followed a judgment released on Monday, in which the LMC found Coach Mohammed guilty of assault on the referee in charge of their Matchday 5 NPFL fixture against Rivers United in Ilorin, Kwara State on Saturday.
According to LMC, “On Saturday, the 8 of January 2022, you assaulted the Referee, whereby you struck several blows to his face as he proceeded towards the dressing room after the match.”
LMC however, recommended to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to review his coaching license as he has failed to live up to the dictates of his coaching certification
The statement signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the LMC, Salihu Abubakar reads in part, “Upon a review of the Matchday 5 fixture: Niger Tornadoes vs. Rivers United, you are hereby charged with breach of Rule C11 of the Framework and Rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League (the League Rules) in that on Saturday, the 8 of January 2022, you assaulted the Referee, whereby you struck several blows to his face as he proceeded towards the dressing room after the match.
“Consequently, the LMC intends to exercise its summary jurisdiction and to Impose on you the following sanctions:
Immediate expulsion from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and any NPFL-organized activities;
A recommendation to the Nigeria Football Federation to review your coaching license as you have failed the threshold to be a coach under the NFF license.
“In accordance with Rule C26, you are required, within 48 hours of the date of this notice, to either:
(1) Submit to the summary jurisdiction and the sanctions contained herein; or
(2) Elect to be dealt with by e disciplinary panel. . Any such election must be in writing addressed to the undersigned at the office of the LMC. Should you submit to the summary jurisdiction a prescribed sanction, kindly note that the fines therein are to be paid within 7 working days.
“Note that In accordance with Rule E1, where an appeal or election to be dealt with by a disciplinary panel fails or is found to have been frivolous, such party may be liable to such additional sanction(s) as may be deemed fit in the circumstances.”
